Software Project Open Sourced!

As originally planned, I've licensed the source code for this project under the GPLv3 and released it to the world:

OCEMR Project Home Page

Some more work will need to be done to generalize the code, document the installation, and package the software to make it easier to setup and use. I am currently looking at the software roadmap and plan to include the above in an upcoming v1.0 release.

  1. Hi,

Congratulations. Nice to know Free Software can help out. I wonder if you looked at GNUmed. It is used in a clinic in Sudan, heavily tested and we sure would like to know what made it not fit your requirements.

    Best regards,
    Sebastian Hilbert

  2. Thank you for your comment Sebastian.

We preferred a web based solution. It allows us to focus on supporting browsers and let browsers focus on supporting Operating Systems. The clinic frequently accepts volunteering medical missions which can triple or quadruple the size of their staff for a week or two. The idea was that visiting doctors could bring their own laptops and just hop on the system at will.

iirc, GNUmed did not have a production web interface when we were researching open source solutions last year.
